A Novel System to Increase Colorectal Screenings and Ensure Compliance in a Targeted Subset of Patients at Mount Desert Island Hospital
Mount Desert Island Hospital (MDIH) proposes to utilize a novel electronic auditing tool to streamline the process of prompting, scheduling and delivering colorectal screenings to a targeted subset of our patients, with a goal to increase compliance for colorectal screenings by 10-20% in 2016.
Five primary care health centers will participate in this project, receiving access to our newly designed alert system, built upon MDIH’s electronic medical records. Health center staff members and patients will receive comprehensive, coordinated educational materials about colorectal screening, further reinforcing the effectiveness of this project.
