Why She Tries
The 2016 Tri for a Cure will be my 4th TFAC.
I love this event for the amazing people I have met and become friends with. I love this event for the cause it is supporting - the fight against cancer.
In 2016 I will again dedicate my Tri to my dad, Wes Jordan, who I lost to pancreatic cancer in 2002. I also dedicate my Tri for mom, who is now a breast cancer survivor. I also dedicate this to all those fighting the disease - kick cancer's butt! To those that are survivors - way to go! And with a heavy heart, those we have lost to this horrible disease.
Every year I carry a list of names with me as I do the run, the hardest part for me. Names of friends, family and loved ones who have been touched by this disease; as well as the names of special people to all of the amazing donors that have helped me raise over $50,000 in the 3 years I have been doing the Tri for a Cure.
Each and every name on the list carries a story - a loved one lost, a loved one fighting the disease, and a loved one who has looked cancer in the eye and beaten it to the ground! I do this for every one of you - cancer Tries, I Tri Harder!
I will again carry a list of names with me this year:
- Mary Gene and Mark L
- Charity T
- Shannon F
- Sue T
- Nancy P
- Ellen C
- and my triathlon coach Dave S
and so many more, many of whom Tri beside me!
For the fight against cancer, for the state that I grew up in and love, for Maine Cancer Foundation - this is my year, the year I will cross that line and have raised $20,000 for the cause!
