Tara has been the Executive Director of Maine Cancer Foundation since 2010. She received a degree in Marketing from Georgetown University and took the path less travelled by her classmates straight into the nonprofit world where she has remained ever since. Born and raised on the southeastern shore of Connecticut, she enjoyed her stint in Washington DC but missed the New England weather. She lived for 17 years in the Boston area before following her husband’s lifelong desire to move to Maine in 2005.
Tara previously worked at the Harvard School of Public Health and Deana’s Educational Theater in Boston as well as Habitat for Humanity/7 Rivers Maine in Bath. She has developed extensive experience in strategic planning, program development and financial management. Tara is also a graduate of the Lift360 (formerly ICL) Leadership Intensive (go Tau class!).
Tara and her husband Stu have three children in various stages of leaving their home in Cumberland. When she’s not at MCF, Tara enjoys long walks by the water, reading books about brain science, knitting almost anything, and hanging out with her family. She’s looking forward to travelling more after the tuition payments end.
