Here is where we will include any changes/updates regarding the status of Tri for a Cure. The news is changing daily and we are tracking all aspects of the impact that the situation can have on both fundraising and event day logistics.
April 22, 2020:
As we're sure you have too, we have spent the last few weeks eagerly awaiting positive news about COVID-19. While each day we are more hopeful about the situation as a whole, safety remains our priority. We are still uncertain about what July 19 will bring. What we do know is that the Tri for a Cure will happen in some capacity. The funds raised at the Tri are critical to our mission. While we are all staying away from the pool and the track and the gym and wearing our masks, cancer is not practicing social distancing. And Mainers with cancer need our help more than ever.
We are currently developing plans so that the Tri for a Cure can happen virtually if not in person. And while that decision has not yet been made, we want to remind you that we are here and we are considering all different scenarios that could play out. We are communicating with the CDC, SMCC, and other local and state experts to develop a plan that will prioritize safety of our participants community and still succeed in achieving our mission. Cancer tries, we TRI harder …together or separately.
As a reminder, the May 1 deadline to withdraw has been extended to June 1 to allow for more concrete plans to be in place. In the meantime, we recognize that your fundraising may be on temporary hold as is some training (laps around the bathtub anyone?). Please know that we are considering all aspects of the event (logistical and economic) as we proceed in planning. We will keep you informed as soon as we have a plan in place.
Please know that we are so grateful for all efforts you are making to TRI! We will get through this time and come out stronger together.
